Chemtex Alsta Hydrogel polymer is a potassium polyacrylate-based hydrogel polymer absorbing about 300 – 500 times water of its own weight, non-toxic and biodegradable, mandated to be beneficial for farmers in improving crop yield, especially in dry & drought conditions. Water Storing Crystals. Helps prevent over & under watering! Ideal for Indoor and Outdoor Plants.
Key Features
- The superabsorbent polymer absorbs water to about 300 – 500 times of its own weight, forming water beads or crystals
- Acts as a mini water reservoir for plants, trapping irrigation run-off and rainfed water to release during prolonged dry conditions
- Absorbs soil nutrients which are then utilized by plants reducing overall fertilizer and pesticide usage by 30 – 35%
- Does not alter soil's chemical composition. Highly effective in drought-hit areas with efficient water usage
How does Hydrogel Polymer work?
Hydrogel polymer or polyacrylate hydrogel comes in crystal or powder, which jellifies upon contact with water or other liquids. These particles may be taken as mini water reservoirs in soil. It soaks up and stores water inside, with the capacity to absorb nearly 300 – 500 times its own weight. Water from these reservoirs is released upon root demand through osmotic pressure difference. In arid areas, the use of hydrogel in sandy soils (macroporous medium) increases the water-holding capacity, significantly improving the quality of plants.
